There are many areas that the molding industry serves. Against cutting molds, IML injection molds, bending molds and subsequent shaping of plastic material by heating process, there are simple and also cheap and fast thermoforming mold types compared to other molding methods.
The production of high volume light plastic parts such as disposable plastic plates, plastic cups, yoghurt cups, chocolate gelatines, automotive wheel covers or refrigerator door panels is provided by this method.
The materials to be molded are thermoplastics and are in sheet form. Thermoforming molds are applied in forming thermoplastic sheets. The plastic sheet, which is fixed on the machine and heated up to the softening point, is given the desired shape by vacuum method.
Heat is given until the sheet becomes soft without melting. Vacuum is created by sucking the air in the mold cavity. The pressure exerts pressure on the heated plate, causing the mold to take shape. Vacuum is applied until the sheet is cooled and hardened. Then the shaped products are taken from the molding machine and straightened.
